Sweet Cherry Pie

My little slice of happy for today?? The ear-to-ear grin on my delighted 7YO DS's face when he saw that his very first SCS upload card was featured on the blog of a card sketch challenge. It's true!! He used the sketch from last week's Limelight Papercrafts Challenge and was delighted to find that his card made it into the picks of the week. Here's the proof! (And here's the story of how my DS and DD came to get their very own SCS accounts.) Unfortunately, I doubt he realizes how long many of us wait for that kind of honor to come our way, if ever. :)

Today my blissful creating time was much less interrupted. My kiddos have now discovered the joys of creating scrapbook pages and have been keeping themselves busy thus far today making sweet layouts of photos from the past year that I recently had printed by Snapfish. Remarkably, they require far less guidance from me with scrapbook pages than with card making. Hmm . . . I'm not sure what that says . . . . Anyway, here's my creation of the day.
I used the colors from today's SCS color challenge, along with Sketch 72 from the Card Patterns Challenge. One of my main goals for making this card was Flourishes' "What's Cookin'?" Challenge, which is to share your favorite recipe in a stamped creation. I think that the intention of this challenge may have been to create a decorated recipe card or maybe even a card you could use for presenting a favorite recipe to a friend who has asked for it. Methinks I may have been a little extreme in my approach. I wrote out my recipe for cherry pie (my hubby's favorite dessert creation) on a lined index card and cut it into tiles for the sketch. I doubt that anyone will be able to follow that recipe now!! Anyway, I stamped the luscious cherries from Flourishes' Peaches and Cherries set, colored them with Prismacolor pencils, and blended with odorless mineral spirits and a paper blending stump before finishing off the card with some fibers, buttons, and machine stitching.

Thanks so much for letting me share my little slice of bliss today!

Wow! Fantastic card, Emily! I really like how you did the recipe, actually. It makes the whole card very interactive! Many congrats to your DS's blog feature too - what a superstar! I've been over to Joanne's gallery on SCS - she is one talented girl! x

I DID see Joel's card on the other blog, and couldn't believe my eyes! Congrats to you, DS! And he has no idea how, as you said, many of us wait and wait to be 'noticed'. Oh, the innocence of a young stamper!
