Just a super quick post today! We have been invited to some friends' house for lunch and swimming in their pool. My kids are ecstatic! I needed a note that I could send to the hostess as a thank you once we return later in the day, so I put together this easy card.
Today's Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS is to use dry embossing. The easy way to do this would be using embossing folders and the like, but I don't have any kind of tools like that! So I punched a flower from heavy card stock, overlaid it with vellum, and used an embossing stylus to trace around it several times to make my flower border.
I used some cheap sandpaper from our local Dollar Tree (is this becoming a recurring theme in my blog posts???) to make my sandy beach where surfers have propped up their surfboards after hittin' the surf. My DS helped me comb through my collection of epoxy brads to find a sun one to round out my beach scene.
You can click here for details on supplies used in this card. Gotta run for our day in the sun!! See you back here soon. Thanks for stopping by!

You are thrifty AND crafty, Emzi! I love to see how you "make-do" without big die-cutting machines. Cute card, and I hope you all have fun! Enjoy the day!
Aren't you clever using sandpaper as "sand"! Brilliant. Love the way you used the stylus to emboss the vellum too. Great card! Trusting you had a great visit and swim :D
I didn't know you had a blog, this is wonderful!!
I loved this card on SCS and had to come by and check out your site when I saw the link.
Love this, Emily. The sandpaper is so inspired, and I love how you met the CAS challenge with embossed flowers - it's so nice to see something a little more imaginative x
