You are Amazing for FWF

Top o' the Friday morning to you!

Here's a little something that I'm sharing for today's Unity Friends With Flair hop.

This card was made with all {ippity} by Unity stamps: the frame and sentiment are from Just Wanted to Say, the circle used for the flower petals is from Love in Return, and the chandelier is from Regal Greetings. I made the flower by stamping that "Original" circle on canvas six times and cutting out each one. Then I pinched one circle, stitched through both layers with needle and thread, and repeated with each circle, stringing the circles on the same thread. Then I simply pulled the thread tight to form a blossom and tied it off. Simple!

I'm so pleased to say that this little ol' card o' mine appeared in the October 2011 issue of CARDS Magazine, on page 111. I'd meant to share it earlier but kind of forgot about it until I received my complimentary copy of the issue from CARDS a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, it appeared in the Cards for Girls feature; I thought this card would be a perfect confidence-booster for a tween or young teenage girl, especially for affirming how unique and special she is!

I'm entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge, Make It Monday with Kraft Outlet: Tie It Up Challenge, and the current {ippity} challenge: Something Old (the Berry Sorbet baker's twine I used to outline my card), Something New (the brand new technique I used for making my canvas flower), Something Borrowed (the canvas I borrowed from my fabric stash), and Something Blue (the vintage button at the center of my flower).

My kids have an early release day today for teacher in-service. We planned a special lunch to share here at home: popcorn chicken, watermelon (for the girls and a peach cup for my non-melon-loving boy), and fruit and yogurt smoothies. We'll get crazy with frozen fruit in the blender while the chicken bakes, and then have a fun lunch together. My daughter has a Girl Scout rollerskating outing later this afternoon, so after we drop her off, I think I'll take my son to buy that stuffed animal he's been pining away for. Should be a fun day!

Thanks for stopping by for a little bit o' happy with me! Have a super day!

Gettin' Spooky for Friends with Flair

Newsflash!

We interrupt this Friends with Flair post for an important announcement:

To commemorate my 3ooth blog post (which I just noticed was yesterday!) and to celebrate World Card Making Day (which kicks off bright and early tomorrow), I figured it's time for a GIVEAWAY!! Check back tomorrow, that's October 1, for the whole scoop.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled FWF programming.

Welcome to Unity's Friends with Flair blog hop! Check the Unity Stamp Co. blog for hop details and a full list of today's participants.

Today I'm sharing a one-layer Halloween card that I made using the chandelier from the Regal Greetings set from {ippity} by Unity.

I shabbied this up with some black ink sponged around the edges for a creepy Victorian look and drew in a spider web background. 'Cuz you know no one (with any substance, at least {wink}) has been around to dust those chandeliers in that old haunted house for quite some time! Anyway, I drew the web with a Sakura Glaze pen from my blogging buddy Jessi (thanks, friend!), dusted it with clear embossing powder, and heat embossed it for extra dimension.

A three-dimensional "Spooky" sticker from Anna Griffin and some black crochet string was all I needed to finish off this easy OLC!

I'm entering this Spooky creation in these challenges:
Well, I hope you have a fabulous weekend! My family has lots of fun stuff going on, and I am definitely hoping to get in some World Card Making Day crafting time. Be sure to peek in tomorrow for the details on my celebratory giveaway: sharing my bliss one little slice at a time!

Thanks for stopping by!
Emily

Sparkly Birthday Chandelier

Happy Friday!! I'm just about to head out to run some errands, but before I go I want to share a quick one-layer card I made this morning. I've been hoping all week to be able to play in the current EtsyInspired Challenge. There's some gorgeous inspiration at this week's Etsy store! I was taken with some beautiful chandelier motif items, and it just so happened that two new {ippity} sets that I'd ordered (one containing a shabby chic chandelier!!) just arrived in last evening's mail. The timing couldn't have been more perfect!! (The EtsyInspired challenge ends in just a few more hours, so I've got to be quick now!) I'm also thrilled to be able to play in the One-Layer Wednesday Challenge for the first time--the theme this week is Home Decor. I think I've got that covered with this card!

I dressed up this one-layer card with some clear embossing at the top, sponging around the edges, pearl and rhinestone adhesive gems, and a glittered chandelier chain (gold glitter adhered to a length of Glue Line--I've always wanted to do that!). The crinkly gold ribbon was salvaged from a Lindt foil-wrapped chocolate Santa!!

Challenges:
Hey, thanks so much for dropping by today and checking out my little slice of bliss!! I'm especially happy today because DH and I finished signing, stuffing, addressing, stamping, and sealing our Christmas cards last night, and I dropped them off at the post office after delivering kids to school this morning. BIG RELIEF!! Next up: holiday gifts for the teachers. EEK! Time is running away from me . . .
